MANHATTAN MONTHLY TAKE

New York’s housing market shows a sharp divide.


While the city faces an affordable housing crisis demanding experienced leadership and practical solutions, Manhattan’s luxury real estate remains strong. As per Olshan’s report of $4M+ contracts, 37 contracts were signed last week in Manhattan. It was the third week in a row of 30 or more contracts.


The higher end of the market, driven by Wall Street gains rather than mortgage rates, continues to fuel demand for high-end properties in Manhattan and surrounding regions. Despite political claims of an exodus, data show the rich are staying and investing.


The city’s next mayor must pair deep housing expertise with policies that expand affordability without stifling a luxury market that remains a cornerstone of New York’s economic vitality.
